Chess King is the new 80s-music cover band in Central Ohio. Named with a tongue-in-cheek homage to the 1980′s mall staple that sold parachute pants, skinny leather ties, Members Only jackets, and striped sleeveless shirts to "fashionable" men, Chess King brings that same sense of fun back to the local music scene.

Formed by five Columbus music veterans, Chess King quickly put together a list of 40 plus songs, ready to deliver crowd-pleasing favorites to the Columbus club scene. Concentrating on classic rockers and danceable pop from the MTV era, Chess King has the goods to keep the audience pleased and the bar tenders busy.

The Eighties were diverse, and so is Chess King. They tackle dancefloor hits like "Billy Jean" and classic metal like "Crazy Train" with equal enthusiasm and skill. It's obvious from watching Chess King perform that they are serious; they love Eighties music and the diversity of the era. Guitarist Pete Chimbidis alternates between rhythmic funk chords and extravagant heavy metal solos with ease. Parker Paul pulls out 80s synth tones and thoughtful piano accompaniments. Bassist Jason Monroe and drummer Keith Hanlon provide the backbone, whether it's electro-funk or arena rock. Singer Damon Mollenkopf's high energy vocals soar on songs as diverse as "(Don't Stop) Believin'", "Rebel Yell" and "Wanted Dead or Alive."

At a time when the music of the 80s is back with a vengeance, Chess King brings together a collection of highly talented musicians and an enthusiasm for 80′s music. Chess King puts on the most energetic show that fans of the Eighties could ever ask for.
